Back Cover Text:
The City(e)scapes
Collection may sound like an ambiguous
title, but there is nothing ambiguous about the designs. They share the
elegance, wearability, attention to detail and careful choice of yarns to match
the character of the designs with all the other Designer’s Choice collections.
The main difference is that the garments in general are more urban in character,
and the title also expresses the mixed emotions designer Elsebeth Lavold has
towards big cities.
The front cover design Pretoria is a good example of a
design that features the kind of details that Elsebeth herself feels provide an
urban touch to the collection: a beautiful cabled knot, a dramatic slit in the
front, and a detached collar. Baghdad, on the back cover, is more
straight-forward, but not less dramatic with its vivid colors and vertical
stripe pattern.
The books also includes Amsterdam, a sweater in
men’s/children’s/dog’s (!) sizes, Lyon, a gorgeous shawl with a unique
lace pattern, and Oslo, a wrap cardigan with a spectacular collar, to
name a few. The City(e)scapes Collection is the
most extensive Designer’s Choice book to date (80 pages), likely to inspire both
big city and countryside knitters to reach for their needles.
